FORCE
For Physics and Engineering, we did an experiment about the power of force. We recorded everything we received from the experiment on a lab report. The lab report is where we store all of our data to show evidence of our learning. In this experiment, my group did the idea of dropping two marbles of different sizes and tested out which one would hit the ground first. Click on "Lab Report" to explore!
MONUMENT SKETCHES
For Engineering, we were also assigned to create a monument that best represents our school. To see our sketches, click here: Engineering Design Sketches
WIND TURBINE
For our Ted project, we made a wind turbine. But before we made a wind turbine we had to brainstorm. The brainstorm included how many blades we want to use, what blade design we want, and how long we want the blades. Here is a sketch of the final blade design and the report. Report and Final Sketch
HEADPHONE PROJECT
Our next project was our headphones! For our headphone project, we were assigned to create headphones and design them to connect to our Social Justice topic. First, we gathered the materials we need for the headphones, then we started to put together our headpiece and cones. Next, we grabbed one meter of wire, the voice coil, and scraped and inch off of the ends. Then we wrapped it around what is called a spacer. We then put the ends of the wire through the inside of the headphone jack and then it was time for the rod and magnet. We got a wooden rod and cut it to fit in the middle of our spacer that we wrapped the voice coil around. Once we got the middle of the rod in, we glued a magnet right on top of the rod and all you do is slide the spacer right on it. Now you just do the same to the other side and you're done. Here is my design process paper where I have a full explanation of my headphones, DESIGN PROCESS PAPER. Here is a picture of my headphones>>
Bottle Rocket
For the bottle rocket project, we were assigned to create a bottle rocket with the different parts that Rachel said we needed to include. Our mission for this project was to make sure that we create a bottle rocket that will project the eggstronaut that is put in the cone in the rocket. We had the chance to design the rocket however we want but we just had to protect the egg. If the egg breaks, it means there wasn't enough support in the cone to help the egg survive. We needed to also make a design process and for the design process, this is where we plan out what materials we are actually going to need for the rocket and this has our final ideas on it. After we constructed the rocket, we launched it and watched to see if our egg survives. Unfortunately my egg did not survive. After everything was tested out, we created what's called a Process Paper. The process paper is where we explain the whole process of creating our rocket and we also talk about what went well or wrong in the experiment. Also, we answer the most important question, did the egg survive? Here are pictures of the rocket and sketches>>
